Express Scripts Fueled $1.6 Billion Economic Benefit to Missouri in 2013

New study highlights the economic impact of Express Scripts on St. Louis and Missouri.

This morning, the University of Missouri – St. Louis released a study titled The Economic Impact of Express Scripts on St. Louis and Missouri.” Authored by Edward C. Lawrence, PhD, Jane Qing-Jiang Qu, MBA, MA and Ellen N. Briskin, PhD, the report summarizes the regional economic growth that Express Scripts has fueled since 2006.

The study found that in 2013 alone, Express Scripts operations resulted in $1.6 billion in total spending in Missouri by the company and its suppliers. And going back to 2006, Express Scripts has provided an aggregate economic benefit to the region of $7.6 billion.

At a ceremony today at the Express Scripts Lab, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay commemorated our latest local expansion and our ongoing commitment to make healthcare more affordable for all Americans.
